John used to be
a professional footballer for Spurs before a serious injury
(broke his leg) forced him to retire from the game. He was
previously a big owner with 50 greyhounds running in the care of
several different
trainers, and his biggest success came when Sullane Princess won
the Oaks. John now trains greyhounds himself and concentrates on the graded
races at Wimbledon.
John started as
a permit trainer at Rye House in the 1980's before taking out a
professional contract in 1990 where he trained at Hackney. After
Hackney's closure he moved to Catford and from there to
Wimbledon. John is frequently found in the winners enclosure at
Plough Lane but also sends out Open racers from his picturesque
kennels in Billericay.
John
is a member of the BGRB and has a passionate involvement in the
welfare of retired greyhounds. Prospective owners are always
welcome to get in touch with John, who always has graded racers
available for sale, priced from £500 to £1500.
