Jason
Foster has only had a relatively short career as a Professional
Trainer but has already sent out 10 Grand National Finalists and
a Grand National winner in the shape of Kildare Lark in 2008. He
has won the Springbok and the Irish Grand National and trained track
record holders over hurdles at Oxford and the now closed Catford.
Jason has also schooled several hurdlers for other trainers
including none other than this year's Grand National winner
Lethal Rumble. In 2003, Jason had three finalists in the Irish
Grand National.
Jason is incredibly passionate
about hurdles and loves schooling and training dogs in the art
of jumping. Jason worked for his father, Tom Foster, also
renowned for his hurdlers for 13 years and this is obviously
where his love for hurdling developed and where he learnt an
awful lot before taking out his own license. Before going it
alone Jason visited Australia for several months where he worked
under one of the best vets he has ever seen in Jim Gannon. His
time with Gannon helped him immensely in not only learning about
greyhound injuries but also detecting injuries before they
develop into a more serious problem. Spells in New Zealand and
Ireland followed as Jason set out on his quest to learn as much
about the Sport as he could and the different ways of working
with greyhounds.

It was when he
returned from his travels that he took out his license and an
offer to join the training ranks at Catford soon followed. When
Catford was to later close Jason was offered an attachment at
Oxford where he has runners on a regular basis. He also has
several hurdlers running in graded races at Walthamstow who have
opened up their hurdle races to all-comers, and not just their
attached trainers.
Jason has a
kennel strength of 70 with 3 full-time staff supporting him as
well as three part-time. Based in the training complex at
Layhams Road, he has his own peat gallop, ideal for schooling
hurdlers in all conditions and is based next to 10 acres of
grass land, ideal for owners who enjoy long walks with their
greyhounds on a Sunday.
There are always
dogs available for sale at reasonable prices and if you are
looking to have your greyhound schooled for a hurdling career,
please contact Jason on the number at the top of this page. |
