Jim Reynolds started on the flapping circuits in Scotland at the tender age of 10! He came to England in 1978 and was Head Kennel Lad at Romford. He married his wife Sue, who was working for Peter Payne in 1981. They moved back to Scotland in 1983 as Jim took out his first trainer's license at Shawfield. The track closed in 1986 and Jim headed back to Romford.

He took out a license again in 1991 with an attachment at Rye House before moving to Canterbury. He was then offered a contract at Ramsgate where he trained for several years. Jim later moved onto Crayford where he spent six years before gaining a contract to train at Walthamstow in 1999. In early 2006 Jim took the decision to move to his local track Romford Stadium, a move he described as "like going back home."

With a kennel strength of 75, Jim, Sue and the team are kept very busy. Jim concentrates on the graded runners at the 'Stow' whilst Sue looks after the Open runners. The kennel are lucky enough to have a choice of fresh meats from a meat distribution plant next door. Jim has all the latest facilities for all treatments, including ultra sound and magneto pulse equipment. Sandy Lane Farm is a very modern set-up with high standards of care and attention to detail.
