Graham Sharp
started training as a hobby in 1955 and took out his license in
1967 where he trained at
Rayleigh. One of the most experienced trainers on the circuit
today with over 40 years experience, he was the first trainer to
be offered a contract by Walthamstow in the 1970's.
Graham has 60 dogs in his care with
a racing strength of 40 which he trains from his base at North
Weald. Whilst most of his dogs run at Walthamstow, he also
contests Open races with his better greyhounds. He has all the
latest facilities for treating his dogs, a walking machine plus
his own track for schooling and galloping his greyhounds. All
his dogs are given plenty of time to mature before contesting
races in public. Graham has a particular fondness for training
marathon runners and has had plenty of success with stayers over
the years.
Graham
trained Tread Fast, winner of the TV Trophy and also his sister
who won the TV Trophy consolation on the same card! A bitch
Clonbrin Basket won an amazing 40 marathon Opens and both her
and Tread Fast held track records at Walthamstow before the
track was re-configured. Other prolific winners include Sunset
Rocket and Johns Dilemma. |
