* New e-mail address. Jim has excellent contacts in
Ireland and often has immaculately bred pups available for sale.
These are pups of the highest quality and prices are often in
the region of £7,000 and above. He is happy for you to e-mail him your
contact details which he can keep on file and will be happy to
call you (without any pressure or obligation to buy) with
details of new arrivals at his kennel available for sale that
may be of interest to you.
Jim Daly has
been involved in greyhound racing for over 20 years. He left
school at 16 years of age to work as a journalist for the Racing
Post where he previewed and reported on Open races. From there
he went to work for Ron Mills at Swindon, then Tony Tugwell at Reading
(Head Lad for 8 years) before joining Charlie Lister, where he was Head
Lad for 15 months.
Jim was closely
involved with Rapid Ranger, Kit Kat Kid, Farloe Bonus and Derbay
Flyer to name a few whilst working for Lister. Derbay Flyer was
one of Jim's favourites, winning 3 Category One Finals in 3
months including the Laurels. Jim left Charlie in 2000 when he
moved to Norfolk to marry his wife Kelly and went on to take out
his own license in 2002.
Although
originally contracted to Nottingham, the travelling from his
home in Norfolk to his kennels in King's Lyn and then on to
Nottingham Stadium for racing proved impractical. Jim had in
excess of 100 dogs whilst at Nottingham with an envious strike
rate of 33%.
Now based in
Norfolk, Jim concentrates very much on quality, not quantity and
has good young Open classed racers in his care. A syndicate
called Asian Gold previously
had 15 dogs with Jim and he had plenty of success with Ballyhoe
Patriot and Deanos Lass (runner-up in the Puppy Cesarewitch at
Peterborough). Top sprinter Man of Steel and Fourcuil Joy are
some of the better dogs Jim has trained in a short career and
Kilcoran Chick was the fastest Maiden Open winner at
Sittingbourne in 2004.
Jim has a 200
yard gallop (picture on left) which has recently been grass seeded and has all the
latest physio equipment to hand. The kennels are set in 3 acres
surrounded by beautiful country walks in the heart of Norfolk
and owners are always welcome to walk their greyhounds on Sunday
mornings.
Kennel charges
are £5 per day and Jim has very good contacts for anyone looking
for help in purchasing a greyhound to suit their requirements.
