Always a highly significant feature in the Rumney Kennels is
their "Racing Breeding Programme", which has produced some very
high quality greyhounds, including "Ice and Lemon" and the multi
Open Race winner "Russanda Tux".
One of Brian's brood bitches "Paper Daisy" has successfully
mated with Top Honcho, Droopys Vieri, and more recently Toms the
Best, producing top grade and Open Race greyhounds.
Whereas another brood bitch "Russanda
Roxy" in her first litter to Tucks Mein produced all A1 or Open
Race greyhounds. Her second litter to "Droopys Corleone" are
eagerly awaiting their introduction to the track. She also has a
6 month old litter to "World Class" consisting of 5 dogs and 5
bitches, all are big healthy pups.
In 2004 Brian decided to have the prefix name of Roman for all
dogs bred by him
Rearing
Four large rearing paddocks allow the pups the freedom to
exercise and explore in their formative months. This hardy but
enjoyable experience prepares them fully for their future.
Schooling
Careful consideration is given to the timing of a pup's
introduction to schooling. The straight sand gallop is a perfect
start, combined with patience and understanding for young
greyhounds.
Racing
The thrill and enjoyment of watching one's own greyhound compete
against others is memorable. This is the culmination of many
months of hard work and endeavour, which we all hope will
conclude in a positive result, but as importantly, a safe
journey home for "another day".
