Paul Young is renowned for his success with high class greyhounds in top competitions but he also loves his home tack Romford where he has the largest graded strength on the card. With frequent Open runners (Paul trained more Open race winners in 2003 than any other trainer in the UK with 326) plus  6 meetings a week at Romford, this is undoubtedly the busiest kennel in the country today.

A loyal and hard working team of 10 full-time staff and 4 part-time staff  are the backbone of Burton Lodge. Most of Paul's team have been with him from day one, and some were even with Paul whilst he worked to Ken Linzel in the late 1970's and early eighties. Paul helped win the Derby with Slippy Blue whilst with Ken and has enjoyed working with the likes of Brian Clemenson and Maxine Locke whilst at his present establishment.

Paul has the largest kennel strength in the country with approximately 200 dogs at Burton Lodge.  Set in 5 acres of land, the kennels have 4 kennel blocks with countless paddocks, swimming pool and gallop and all the latest facilities to ensure the welfare of  all the greyhounds in Paul's care. Paul also rears pups at the kennel to 12 months, at which point they are sent to Ireland to be schooled and they return when they are ready to race.

After a brief spell away from Burton Lodge Paul returned 'home' to take over from Ken Linzel in the late 1990's and to this day, many of the owners with Ken remain loyal to his successor who has had countless big race winners in recent years. The TV Trophy has been Paul's favourite and luckiest race. He won 3 TV Trophies in the space of 4 years thanks to Ericas Equity (twice) and Serious Dog. 

The Derby is one the few major competitions to have escaped Paul's grasp and this remains his main ambition today. He sent out Droopys Honcho to reach the Final in 2001 and has also had Finalists in the Scottish and Irish versions of the Classic.
