Maxine
Locke took out her licence in 2002 and quickly established
herself as one of the most exciting Training prospects in the
country when winning the
Springbok and Milton Keynes Derby. Now well established at
Romford after a spell at Wimbledon, she also landed the March
Hare Trophy in 2007 with Bonville Podge and Bonville Buster
reached the Final of the Peterborough Puppy Derby a month later.
A flurry of winners in early 2008 saw the kennel lad the Coral
TV Standard Trophy with Love Mac. Love Tiger recorded the
fastest time in 14 years in the Derby when taking his second
round Heat in 28.29 (+.20) and beating Melodys Pat by 5 1/2
lengths. Maxine used to
work for Paul Young before
taking out her own license and she started training in her own
right at Sittingbourne. From there she moved to Catford before
it's closure in 2003.
Maxine has room for 90 dogs
(including retired greyhounds) and consistently has a kennel
strength in excess of 40. The kennels are set in 6 acres of land
and contain a 250 yard all-weather gallop. All the latest facilities
are to hand for exercising greyhounds and treating injuries with
a weekly on-site physio visit.
The kennels have their own jucuzzi, carousel, and treadmill
walkers. Maxine has a team of 5 full-time staff as well as part-time
staff at the weekends in what is a real team effort in ensuring
every attention to detail is given to the greyhounds in her
care. |
