Alison has been associated with greyhounds for over 25 years and used to work part-time for John Honeyset before taking a
full-time job with Dave Catterall at Maidstone. She started to
Train in her own name at Canterbury before spells at Ramsgate,
Sittingbourne, Milton Keynes and Catford followed. Alison joined
Romford in March of 2003 and has been at her present kennels
since 2000. Bersheda Kennels is sited on two acres of land with
kennelling for 150 dogs.
Alison has 28 paddocks (twenty medium sized and eight very
large). There is a drag hare for exercising the dogs on the main
gallop. All the lastest physio equipment is based at the
kennels. There is a separate treatment room with portomag boxes
for magnetic field therapy and laser and fototec and pen for
detecting and treating injuries and trapped nerves. There is
also a dog walker for when the weather is bad. There is a
Phys-assist machine for treating the dogs that get any injury
while racing, ultra sound machine and a physio visits the
kennels when ever necessary dogs are also sent to George Drake
for any treatment required. In 2006 a new jet swimming pool and separate
hot water spa
was installed for the greyhounds at a considerable cost.
All dogs are fed with plenty of red meat (not Knacker) cooked
chicken and eggs with high protein biscuit. Alison is situated
on the main A127 road eastbound going towards Southend and
within 15 minutes drive from the main schooling track at south
Ockendon and the same time away from the greyhound vet John
O'Connor.
Alison has
has a Kent Derby Finalist, won the Regency in 2005 with Jordans
Glory and sent out Pure Paris to reach two Finals in 2006
(Champion Stakes & Rose Bowl).
Most owners visit on Sundays to see their dogs and enjoy the
long country walks to be taken behind the kennels. There are 6
full-time and 5 part-time staff at Bersheda helping Alison to
get the best out of the dogs in her care. |
