Laurence Tuffin has been involved
with greyhounds since the age of 11. Having always had dogs at
home, Laurence enjoyed a spell on the flapping circuits before
taking out a permit in 1995. He used to run his dogs at
Peterborough, Stainforth and Henlow. He took out a professional
license in 1998 with the kennels still based at home, joined
Nottingham in 2000 and gave up full-time work in 2003 to train
full-time from his present kennels where he currently has 75
dogs in his care. Laurence
has always done well with inexpensive buys and is regularly seen
contesting top class competitions. In 2005 he sent out 32 Open
winners and has already reached 12 Finals in 2006. Wise Diamond
won the Paddy Power Derby Trial Stakes at Walthamstow, Black
Sugar reached the Final of the Cock O' The North at Belle Vue,
finishing second. Charmer was one of his better dogs, winning 5
consecutive Opens. Roses Moet has reached the Final of the
Yorkshire Oaks and Northern Oaks and January 2007 saw the kennel
win the Carling Futurity Cup with Two Nicks who later the same
year went on to finish second behind Vatican Jinky in the
£10,000 Totesport Gold Collar. The same dog missed out by just a
head when second again, this time in the 2007 Betfred Eclipse
behind Rev Counter. In the summer of 2008 Laurence sent out
Commander Chief to take second in the £10,000 Sussex Cup behind
Droopys Carvalho.
Laurence has 2 full-time staff
and 4 part-time and one of those part-time staff. The kennel will travel
far and wide with their Open dogs, and this is the part of the
game that Laurence loves most - winning Opens! There is a good
strength to support the grades at Nottingham but also a good
range of Open class dogs in his care.
For anyone looking to own either
graders at Nottingham or Open class dogs, Laurence visits
Ireland 5 to 6 times a year to purchase new stock. Call the
above number for more information.
