Green as last year's winner, Ronnies Flight takes Heat 5 of the
Robin Hood Midland St Leger. Showing his customary early pace he
soon had the field stretched out and made all for a comfortable
5 lengths success from Laid Back Henry in 39.67 (quickest of the
Heats). |

runners pass the winning line in front during the Romford v Hove
v Walthamstow night at the Essex track. Danbury Slim, Horseshoe
Hero, Paradiso (Mercury Trophy Heat 2) and Black Mist Boy all
successful. Paul Young sends
out a five-timer on the same card. |

Monmore. The Ladbrokes Christmas Festival Heats sees wins for
Sparta Magic, 28.50 (Seamus
Cahill), Fabulous March, 28.35 (Martin
Burt) and Emerging Force (Pat
Rosney) who made all and went quickest in 28.19. The top 3
in the ante-post market, Westmead Olivia, Jazz Hurricane and
Frankies Diamond are all out of the competition. |

Star Of Dromin was the star of the
show at Walthamstow when landing the Storetodoor London Marathon
for Mark Wallis. She
had to dig deep to finally get the better of the front-running
Faking It for Jim Reynolds
but eventually led at the run-in to win the £3,000 first prize
by 2 1/4 lengths. This win takes Wallis further clear in the
Championship race and with time running out, he will soon be
crowned Champion Trainer in his first season as a license
holder. Ronnies Flight, Sol Late Late (£1,000 London Derby),
Speacial Deal, and Fear Miss Power were the other 4 winners on
the card for Wallis. |

opening Heat of the William Hill Northern Puppy Derby for
Carly Philpott
but leading fancy Fear Assasin crashes out for
Mark Wallis. |

Shock in the Essex Vase Final as
Eye Onthe Ball lands the Category One at Romford for
Paul Young at odds of 16/1.
In what was a cracking Final with only 4 3/4 lengths separating
the whole field at the winning line, the eventual winner was
slowly away as Dabreen and Driving Up Rob fought it out at the
head of affairs. But Paul Young's runner made relentless
progress to lead on the run-in and win going away by 1 1/2
lengths. Paul
Sallis's Driving Up Rob, the 2/1 favourite, ran his heart
out to finish a gallant third, one and a half lengths and a head
adrift on the winner. |

as Driving Up Rob remains undefeated in the competition and

'Rob' was not as convincing as in previous rounds but the
ante-post favourite held on from the fast finishing Jo Beo by
3/4 length in the First Semi in 36.10.
Paul Young will be
represented in the Final after Eye Onthe Ball came home third in
the second Semi. |

The Storetodoor London Marathon got
underway at Walthamstow and Star Of Dromin was certainly the
star when recording an all-the-way success at odds of 1/6 in the
quickest time of the night for
Mark Wallis. Blues
Highway and Glengar Leader go through to the Final for
Brian Clemenson, both taking second in their
respective Heats. Faking It made all for
Jim Reynolds to land
the spoils in Heat 1. The Final takes place next Saturday. |

Gary Baggs denies Seamus
Cahill's hot favourite Sparta Magic. In Heat 4 Tinky Rolls for
Jim Reynolds defeats
the Mark Wallis trained
favourite Sarah Loves by 1/2 length - both progress to the next
round. Shelbourne Poopa out of the competition after finishing
5th in Heat 5 but kennelmate Shelbourne Nina through for
Brian Clemenson
despite suffering a shock defeat to Macintosh Wonder after
being bumped at the 1st. This was 'Nina's' first defeat in 7
starts but she is still a very warm order for outright honours. |
