Emerald Bookmakers Cup, Coventry. Shelbourne Poopa was impressive for
Brian Clemenson
when taking Heat 1 in the second round in 29.70 (-10). Odds-on
shot Bell Legend for
Mark Wallis was only third in the same Heat but is through
to the Semis. There was better news for Wallis when Ronnies
Champion returned to the winners enclosure for the first time
since winning the William Hill Puppy Classic in August last
year. Ronnies Champion took the lead at the first and was never
in trouble thereafter when beating Verdun Katie by 2 lengths in
30.05 secs (-20).
Carly Philpott's Roxholme Silks was a further 3/4 lengths
away in third. Well Tutored was quickest of the night, taking
Heat 4 in 29.67 (-20) but Hee Haws Barney is out after trailing
home 5th in Heat 2.

Ray Peacock's Polo Wood moved swiftly through to the
Semi-Finals of the Springbok after making all in Heat 5 to deny
kennelmate Polo Spirit by 1/2 length in a time of 28.57.
Quickest of the night was recorded by Yet Another Matt who won
Heat 2 in 28.50. Tally Ho Rocket took 3rd in Heat 1 for Peacock
but his other fancy, Serendipity Dog is out after suffering
early traffic problems in the same race.

Maxine Locke, who was bidding to win a second Springbok
title saw Gottabe Magic eliminated in the opening round after
suffering crowding at the second hurdle and again at the first
bend. Hindered by a slow start, he ran on to great effect but
was a short-head adrift of the final qualification spot when
coming fourth.

Trials on their mixed card and it was Vancouver Sparky who took
Div I for Paul Garland
in 29.02, beating Fear Assassin by a length. Div II was taken by
Brave Falcon in 29.19 whilst Mahers Boy went quickest in Div III
with 28.87 and a 4.95 sectional.

trials and Ray Peacock
took two of them with Washewish (2/1) and Polo Spirit (Evs). The
latter named was slow away but led at the third hurdle to win in
29.04 (quickest of the night).

David Pruhs was out of

is delighted with his impending move to Hall Green and explains
his decision for going for the job, "Breeding our own pups is a
major, major part of what we do. The Breeders Forum Produce
Stakes is run at Hall Green and this had an influence on our
decision to move. If we happen to breed a couple of decent
greyhounds we'll at least have dogs who know the track well.
Hall Green, run by the GRA is a high profile track with BAGS
racing and my contract with them offers all of us at the kennel
more security."
