05th Feb 06 Emerald Bookmakers Cup, Coventry. Shelbourne Poopa was impressive for Brian Clemenson when taking Heat 1 in the second round in 29.70 (-10). Odds-on shot Bell Legend for Mark Wallis was only third in the same Heat but is through to the Semis. There was better news for Wallis when Ronnies Champion returned to the winners enclosure for the first time since winning the William Hill Puppy Classic in August last year. Ronnies Champion took the lead at the first and was never in trouble thereafter when beating Verdun Katie by 2 lengths in 30.05 secs (-20). Carly Philpott's Roxholme Silks was a further 3/4 lengths away in third. Well Tutored was quickest of the night, taking Heat 4 in 29.67 (-20) but Hee Haws Barney is out after trailing home 5th in Heat 2.
04th Feb 06 Ray Peacock's Polo Wood moved swiftly through to the Semi-Finals of the Springbok after making all in Heat 5 to deny kennelmate Polo Spirit by 1/2 length in a time of 28.57. Quickest of the night was recorded by Yet Another Matt who won Heat 2 in 28.50. Tally Ho Rocket took 3rd in Heat 1 for Peacock but his other fancy, Serendipity Dog is out after suffering early traffic problems in the same race.
04th Feb 06 Maxine Locke, who was bidding to win a second Springbok title saw Gottabe Magic eliminated in the opening round after suffering crowding at the second hurdle and again at the first bend. Hindered by a slow start, he ran on to great effect but was a short-head adrift of the final qualification spot when coming fourth.
04th Feb 06 William Hill Springbok. Jason Foster has Corbally Hero (29.10) and Star Caddy Man (28.87) through to the next round. Also through are Up Da Tripesta (29.30) for Pat Curtin, Mullarkey (29.17) for Paul Garland, Magical Kingdom (28.65) for Mark Wallis and Brave Charlie (28.95) and Senahel Leon (28.87) both for Seamus Cahill. Cahill's leading fancy Lenson Ace is out after managing only 4th in Heat 4.
04th Feb 06 Monmore. Martin Burt's kennel are firing at present and Pesty, Bibis Reply, I Fancy That and Zigzag Moss give him a four-timer on the card.
04th Feb 06 Jim Reynolds nominated Borna Sailor as his dog to follow in 2006 and the son of Borna Pilot destroyed A1 opposition at Romford when justifying favouritism to win going away by 4 1/2 lengths in 24.77. Sekon Black and Coyote Toon also won to give the Wickford handler at treble.
04th Feb 06 Gary Baggs has notched a hat-trick and a five-timer at Walthamstow recently and his run of form continues as he sends out another three winners courtesy of Ceilidh Bloom (S2), Fionntra Gary (P8) and Ebony Ocean (S4).
03rd Feb 06 Ray Peacock's Polo Wood has been installed joint-favourite for the Springbok with Sponsors William Hill. The Keston based handler will be looking forward to the first round which gets underway on Saturday after his string were confirmed in fine order after yet another hat-trick of winners at Plough Lane. Mustand Mcclaren, Sunville Katie and Quick Movement all win.
03rd Feb 06 Maxine Locke nominated Gottabe Magic as her dog to follow for 2006 and after some fine recent trials he is installed clear third favourite at 9/2 for outright honours in the Springbok.
02nd Feb 06 Walthamstow staged further Arc Trials on their mixed card and it was Vancouver Sparky who took Div I for Paul Garland in 29.02, beating Fear Assassin by a length. Div II was taken by Brave Falcon in 29.19 whilst Mahers Boy went quickest in Div III with 28.87 and a 4.95 sectional.
02nd Feb 06 Regular readers of News In Brief will have noted the form of Gary Baggs's kennel with a recent five-timer and hat-trick. The Slough based handler's run of form shows no signs of ending as he sends out an Open race hat-trick at his home track. Strong Flow (11/8), Malden Jessie (6/4f) and Droopys Puma (5/1) were all in the winners enclosure.
02nd Feb 06 Three winners for Martin Burt at Monmore courtesy of Black Imp, Baggies Rose and Glenanore Lady. Elsewhere on the card, Chakalak Harmony and Westmead Iroko take the Midland Puppy Derby Trials.
02nd Feb 06 In form Martyn Wiley follows up his recent hat-trick with a five-timer on Romford's BAGS card. Coalition Bunker (A7), Stone Mole Daisy (A8), Ladys Tavern (A2), Spearmint Rhino (A7) and Castle Clemence (A8) all successful for the Wickford based handler.
01st Feb 06 The Harlow Greene King IPA Cup, Semi-Finals. Carlin Honcho goes quickest in Heat 1 with a 37.25. Mark Wallis's Fear No Battle makes all to win his Semi-Final in 37.43 but his other representatives, Ronnies Flight, Persephone and Courts As Crissy all fail to progress. Shebas Magic for Brian Clemenson wins the second Semi by the minimum margin from Haunting Vieri in 37.53.
01st Feb 06 Both Martyn Wiley and Jim Reynolds in treble form at Romford. Wiley sees Femine Fatal (5/4f), Castle Owen (7/2) and Mee Chai (3/1) land the spoils. Reynolds's runners have settled in very well around the Essex track and Fine Top, Let Em Spin and Bigboydidit all score.
31st Jan 06 Brian Clemenson nominated Coventry Bees as one of his greyhounds to follow for 2006 in our Trainer Interviews section and the son of Go Wild Teddy looked very good when winning the Witney Gazette Trophy at prohibitive odds of 2/5 at Oxford by 9 lengths in a very fast 26.46.
31st Jan 06 Simon Wooder recently won Owner Of The Year at the BGRB awards and he looks to have another potential star on his hands after Fear Myjames made a winning debut at Walthamstow for trainer Mark Wallis. The Feb 04 son of Droopys Vieri clocked a fastest of the night 28.91 when trouncing A3 opposition by 5 1/4 lengths. 
31st Jan 06 Wimbledon hosted further Springbok trials and Ray Peacock took two of them with Washewish (2/1) and Polo Spirit (Evs). The latter named was slow away but led at the third hurdle to win in 29.04 (quickest of the night).
31st Jan 06 Gary Baggs's string are in cracking form at present and he followed his recent five-timer with a hat-trick at the Stow. Headoftheweir (11/4), Droopys Slick (3/1) and Gregs Ceilidh all successful.

30th Jan 06 David Pruhs was out of luck with a couple of his more fancied runners at Nottingham but there was better news for the Spalding based handler at Crayford. Hesley Pepper won Div C of the 2006 Ladbrokes Golden Jacket Trial Stakes and she was immediately followed into the winners enclosure by kennelmate Gunner Black who won Div B in the quickest time of the night in 46.49.
30th Jan 06 Elaine Saville has just the four runners on the Carling Futurity Final card and comes away with 2 winners as Dee Droop and Aldworth Shadow oblige.
30th Jan 06 Ardagh Mike lands the Carling Futurity Cup at Nottingham. Hot favourite Teds Anchor second after troubled run.
30th Jan 06 Fionntra Dara, Dilrock Thatcher, Droopys Deano, Stress Relief and Droopys Faldo all score to give Gary Baggs a fiver-timer at Walthamstow. The in form Slough based handler also sent out three runners-up on the card.
30th Jan 06 Paul Sallis is delighted with his impending move to Hall Green and explains his decision for going for the job, "Breeding our own pups is a major, major part of what we do. The Breeders Forum Produce Stakes is run at Hall Green and this had an influence on our decision to move. If we happen to breed a couple of decent greyhounds we'll at least have dogs who know the track well. Hall Green, run by the GRA is a high profile track with BAGS racing and my contract with them offers all of us at the kennel more security."

Son Of Phoebe gets up on the line to deny kennelmate Selbourne Poopa to give Brian Clemenson a 1-2 in Heat 6. Carly Philpott's odds on chance Roxholme Silks makes all in Heat 2. Fastest of the night was Hee Haws Barney (29.12 + .20) who won Heat 4 by 9 lengths.

28th Jan 06 Silbury Ruby came late and fast to win the £2,500 Pepsi Marathon at Walthamstow for Micky Puzey. The daughter of Spiral Nikita was making giant strides on the early pace-setters Bepe Black and Alabama Star who crowded each other at the 7th and it was here that she scooted clear to deny the Brian Clemenson trained Glengar Leader by two lengths.

26th Jan 06 The Walthamstow v Wimbledon Inter-Track challenge gives the chance for some of Seamus Cahill to have a look at the track and his runners performed with real promise when recording a four-timer. Evening Flight, Blackerry Girl, Today Is Myday and Juster Dancer all landed the spoils for the Keston based handler who earlier this week was delighted to see Druids Mickey Jo crowned BGRB Hurdler Of The Year 2005.

25th Jan 06 The Harlow Greene King IPA Cup. Coomlogane Syd through to the Semi-Finals for John Simpson after easily winning Heat 6 by 3 1/2 lengths from Jumbo Superstar. Brian Clemenson's Lady Sky also qualified in 3rd whilst he also has Shebas Magic in the Semis after she took second in Heat 1. Mak Wallis has no fewer than 4 through to the next round thanks to Fear No Battle (3rd Heat 2), Courts Ad Crissy (1st Heat 4), Peresphone (2nd Heat 4) and Ronnies Flight (3rd Heat 5).

24th Jan 06 Paramount Silver, running in his 4th Final lands the William Hill Gold Cup at Sunderland. The Carly Philpott trained Roxholme Silks chased the winner home but was a length adrift at the line in the £5,000 showpiece.
24th Jan 06 Polo Wood, nominated as a dog to follow by Ray Peacock in our Interviews section, easily lands the odds in his Springbok trial at Wimbledon recording 28.58 when beating Yet Another Matt by 2 1/4 lengths.
