Martin Burt started training at
Norton Canes and had spells at Cradley Heath and Perry Barr
before moving to Monmore Green in 1994 where he is a trainer
today. Based at West View Kennels, Martin has all the latest
facilities for training greyhounds including a walking machine,
access to a swimming pool and a 250m gallop. The kennels have
several paddocks and a very large grass paddock.
Martin has a kennel strength of 70
and normally has 40 greyhounds on the graded strength at Monmore.
He currently has a small team of Open racers and is always
willing to travel with his better dogs. A loyal team of 5
full-time staff and 2 part-time staff assist Martin in the
day-to-day running of West View Kennels.
Probably one of the best greyhounds
Martin has trained is Proud Boss who reached the Semi-Finals of
the Derby and won Midland Flat. In addition to 'Champ', Martin
also trained Elliots Pride who was a multiple Open race winner and
won the National Sprint at Nottingham. He also broke two track
records! Of his current runners, Boher Chief is another multiple
Open race winner and is track record holder for the 264m trip at
Monmore. |
