Paul Sallis has
been involved with greyhounds since the age of 16 having worked
with George Curtis for 4 years as a kennel hand looking after
the legendary Ballyregan Bob. When George retired Paul spent a
year with Bill Masters before spending the next 8 years working
in breeding greyhounds.
Paul went back into racing with
Gordon Hodson and then worked as Assistant Trainer to Brian
Clemenson for 2 years. Training in his own right since November
2003, Paul is an incredibly ambitious trainer and has already
had finalists in the Eclipse at Nottingham, The Harry Holmes,
Spring Cup and Queen Mother Cup at Sheffield), The Gold Cup
(Oxford), Christmas Cracker (Milton Keynes) and the Golden
Sprint (Hove). Driving Up Rob (pictured right)
made the Final of the Essex Vase in 2005 and went on to win the
£2,000 Carling Guineas at Nottingham in 2006. Sallis also won
the £6,000 Golden Sprint at Romford with Driving Up Henry and
the Midland Grand National with Jills Fault. Jills Fault also
reached the Final of the 2006 Grand National at Wimbledon.
Now based in Derbyshire where he
moved in 2006,
having previously been at Newton Longville, Paul
has several top-class greyhounds in his care. The kennels are
set in 10 acres of picturesque countryside and alongside the
very latest ultrasound machines, other facilities include an
all-weather gallop and walking machine.
As well as
training greyhounds, Paul's kennels are also home to
several broods and this area is looked after by Esther Driver.
